Gourmia Express Pot Electric Pressure Cooker – Our office has handled many claims where a user was burned by a Gourmia electric pressure cooker. The Gourmia pressure cooker is supposed to have several safety features preventing it from opening while still under pressure, but our office has investigated several claims where the user suffered severe burns when the lid came off while the cooker was still pressurized.
Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker – Our pressure cooker burn attorneys have received complaints of burns caused by the Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker. This Multi-Cooker advertises that its lid will stay sealed while under pressure, yet victims reported that the lid still came off while the cooker was pressurized and severely burned them. If you were burned by a Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker, you may be entitled to money for your injuries.
Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker – Instant Pot’s electric pressure cookers have been reportedly exploding on some users, causing severe burn injuries. These Instant Pot electric pressure cooker burn claims should not happen if the safety mechanisms work properly.
One pressure cooker, the Power Pressure Cooker XL, has several possible issues we are investigating which could seriously injure a user. We already handled many cases against Tristar Products and other pressure cooker companies.
The Power Pressure Cooker XL is sold online through Tristar’s website, and in major retail stores, including Bed, Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Kohls, JC Penney, and more. According to its website, “Power Pressure Cooker XL prepares family favorite recipes up to 70% faster than other conventional ways of cooking. Its Flavor Infusion technology guarantees that the food will not only be done fast but it will be delicious.”
It is supposed to have “built in safety features”, though its website fails to disclose what those safety features actually are. Each website which sells this product has a different description. Kohls, for example, even says there is a “Safe-lock lid and steam release valve ensure safe use.” This safety feature is not described on all sites.
Our office has handled several burn injury claims by victims alleging their pressure cooker exploded when they went to open it or while it was cooking. It has been alleged that a faulty part in the Power Pressure Cooker XL may cause pressure to build up without a means of release, thereby causing the contents to explode out when the pressure cooker is opened. One victim described the defect as a loose valve that gets blocked and cannot release the steam.
There have been numerous complaints with this product already. Among those listed online include:
Some of the most common safety issues with the Power Pressure Cooker XL alleged are:
The company behind the Power Pressure Cooker XL is Tristar Products, Inc. According to its website, Tristar is located just 25 minutes from New York. “20 years ago, Tristar Products, Inc. revolutionized the direct response market. It has distribution in many retail outlets.
Common Pressure Cooker Injury and Damage Claims may include:
Burns – If a pressure cooker explodes, scalding hot food could cause major burns, blistering skin, melted skin, and scars. These burn injuries could require skin grafting, antibiotics, and could even lead to infection.
Scars and Skin Discoloration – Severe burns could cause the victim’s skin to become permanently discolored, or even leave scars. These injuries could require revision surgery or future medical care.
Property Damage – When contents from a pressure cooker explode, it could cause property damage to contents. Soup, for example, could shoot out from the pressure cooker and coat the ceiling, walls and other furniture and valuables.
Wrongful Death – If burn injuries lead to infection, the victim could even die from the injuries. This would lead to a possible wrongful death case.
