CPAP, Ventilator, and Bi-Level Pap Injury Claims
According to the FDA, polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) sound abatement foam, which is used to reduce sound and vibration in these affected devices, may break down and potentially enter the device’s air pathway in a defective CPAP machine. If this occurs, black debris from the foam or certain chemicals released into the device’s air pathway may be inhaled or swallowed by the person using the device.Royal Philips issued a voluntary recall in June of 2021 on several models of their CPAP machines. If you used one of these models of CPAP, ventilator, or bi-level pap machine, you might have been unknowingly inhaling toxic fumes and particles from the insulating foam used on these devices. These particles when inhaled can be harmful, and can lead to illness and even cancer. Some models have even been known to shed insulating foam which can break down when using the machine.
Recalled CPAP Machine Lawsuits and Complaints
There have been numerous complaints with Sleep Apnea devices already. Here’s what CPAP users are saying:
“I tried contacting Phillips, but they never responded. That means that I have to spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a new one, and I just can’t afford it.”
“I used a CPAP machine for years. My throat started getting sore, then I noticed the foam inside starting to fall apart. I can’t believe I was breathing that stuff in the whole time!”
“Since using my CPAP machine, my skin is itchy and I have trouble breathing.”
CPAP Cancer Lawsuit
Common CPAP Claims may include:
Skin Irritation– Rashes and inflammation can occur when skin and eyes comes into contact with foam insulation from CPAP machines. These toxins can also contribute to chronic headaches
Chronic Respiratory Issues– Particles from foam insulation can cause respiratory distress and long-term issues from irritation to the eyes, lungs, and throat. These particles can lead to long-term conditions like asthma and other breathing problems.
Organ Damage– Exposure to toxins can lead to damage of vital organs, such as the liver and kidneys
Cancer– Inhalation of toxic particles found in CPAP machines can lead to cancer, and even death.
Wrongful Death – If you are diagnosed with cancer as a result of using a CPAP machine, the victim could even die. This would lead to a possible wrongful death case.
